Have you noticed the up and down tabs on the side of your every Google search results, just as shown in the image below?
This is SearchWiki, a new tool offered by Google that enables you to personalize and customize your Google searches with features of reorganization and even writing notes and comments for your search results!
Well, the first thing is you’ve to sign in to your Google account, where all your settings, customization, and preferences of Google searches will be saved such that the next time you do some Googling, your personalized and customized searches will show as preferences. It would be something like marking your “favorite” and “useless” Google search results so the next time you do the searches, your favorites would show up first!
Additionally, SearchWiki offers an option to make all your notes and comments public to share your opinion about the particular search results.
You can click on the “Up” arrow to promote your search results to the top of your results, clicking the “X” would remove the results from your search preference, and clicking on comment button would enable you to add a note for the result.
Now, one interesting thing that I have noticed is that Google states that “The changes you make only affect your own searches” but I’m sure Google will use these huge, user-generated datas for overall search preferences and hence we may be nearing the end of Search Engine Optimizations.
Do you know about the new Voice and Video chat capabilities that Google has recently added to its popular web mail application? Well, if you’ve not heard about it, dude where were you?
The official Gmail blog has announced the addition of new features on Gmail with which now you can enjoy video and voice chat with Gmail too! All you’ll need to do is install a plugin from Gmail, and the video and voice chat will be instantly available to you!
The live stream videos for chat will be encoded with H.264, hence if your computer is a bit old, you might have some problem running the video smoothly.
With Gmail Video Chat, you can have a small panel of video or a large PIP view where you can even make the video streaming to full screen.
Just watch this tutorial video, highlighting features of this new service.
Do you know Google has recently upgraded and relaunched its blogsearch service? Google Blog Search is one of the most effective measures to explore the blogging world and to find out what bloggers around the world are writing about.
This Google search technology has been upgraded and relaunched with a new interface where now you can see the hottest and the most interesting new topics from the blogosphere on the front page!
Google Blogsearch now also shows how the stories are gaining momentum amongst users and this new interface now also has a sidebar on the left column of the site.
Now, you can search and browse through eleven different categories: politics, US, world, business, technology, video games, entertainment, science, television, movies, and sports and easily find out the latest and hottest blogger’s talk on the categories!
Also, you can search blogs in other languages as well such as Malay, Thai, Indonesian, Polish, Swedish, Tagalog, Turkish, Vietnamese, etc.
Google Blog Search gets the latest updates on the posts amazingly fast with its faster indexing approach. If you’ve not been using this service from Google, I think you should!
Google Chrome seems to be liked by everyone, the new open-source browser by Google, but no version this cool browser was not available for Mac and Linux users.
However, a new project called CrossOver Chromium created by CodeWeaver fills the gap as now with it, Google Chrome will be available to Mac and Linux users too!
Say hello to ChromiFox, a bright and soft blue theme for Firefox 3 that brings in the charms of Google Chrome to Firefox.
This add-on to Firefox is completely inspired by appearance of the Google Chrome web browser and is perfect for users who love the Google Chrome interface but who simply cannot live without Firefox!
Google Chrome Beta has now been officially released and is available for download. Like all the Google products, I highly recommend you to try this out too since it is free and is unlikely to disappoint the users! This Google Chrome is not only designed to be lightweight and fast and but also is optimized for the next generation applications that goes heavy with multimedia and graphics.
This experimental browser is based on the Webkit engine which has introduced a new tab concept meant for fast browsing experience.
It seems it is not only I who is completely disappointed with the over-hyped launch of Cuil, the so-called most powerful search engine likely to be a googleslayer or a powerful alternative search engine to Google.
Let alone be a googleslayer or a googlekiller, this search engine has turned to be a disaster search engine where the results as shown by Cuil is not only uninteresting, but Cuil is even pairing random images with sets of search results!
I could not find any trace of my blog on the relevant results for the keyword search “Enfotainer” out of the 13 results, but that’s nothing compared to the fact that Cuil doesn’t even show its homepage as the first search result if you search for the keyword “Cuil” in the search engine. I really find this hilarious!
It’s no wonder why Friendfeed founder and former Googler Paul Bucheit made a harsh comment on Cuil stating:
“Maybe Cuil isn’t supposed to be good. They must know that the results are bad, but they launched anyway. Maybe they aren’t trying to build a full search engine, but just want to demo their crawling+indexing technology with the expectation that someone will buy the company and plug in better ranking.”
It seems that now if Cuil doesn’t come up sooner to meet up the hype and expectations that it promised, it can start packing up its bag and get going!
