So, if you have a thousand irrelevant backlinks pointing to your site, it will not make any difference to your page rank, but if you have only a few hundred quality/relevant backlinks, then assume that you’re gonna get a higher page rank next time Google updates its nominal page rank.

Now, one interesting thing that I have noticed is that Google states that “The changes you make only affect your own searches” but I’m sure Google will use these huge, user-generated datas for overall search preferences and hence we may be nearing the end of Search Engine Optimizations.
