Miracles of Technology - A 3D Game with the file size of just 96 KB!
Posted by: Manish in Games, tags: 95 KB game, kkrieger, Miracle of TechnologyWelcome back!
Yes. I also could not believe it when I first heard it. I thought this was some kind of a joke or some kind of virus or spyware! But I was really amazed…this was a great 3D game known as .kkreiger, and believe it or not, the size of the game was just 96 KB! Here are some snapshots of the beta release!

The minimum requirements of this 96 KB, 3D game are:
- A 1.5GHz Pentium III / athlon or faster.
- 512MB of RAM
- a GeForce4Ti (or higher) or ATI Radeon8500 (or higher) graphics card supporting pixel shaders 1.3, preferably with 128MB or more of VRAM.
- Sound hardware
- DirectX 9.0b
I hope this cutting edge technology will certainly bring some real big changes in the gaming world! There are some bugs in this game, but hey, this is just the beta version! You can download this game from here. I could have just uploaded the zipped file so that you could immediately download this wonderful game from this post, but I believe we should give credits to the developer (theprodukkt) by at least visiting their wonderful site! Simply extract the Zip file. There will be a small 96 KB executable file. Run it. I know it takes some time for the game to load, but you’ll then be one of the people who’ve seen this miracle of technology!
ADDED ON May 29, 2008:
I know .kkreiger is old, that is, last updated in August 2006. But I blogged this just to create more awareness among the people regarding this concept in which all the textures are procedurally generated in your computer! and if successfully implemented, I believe, this concept can bring some real big changes in the whole gaming technology. What do you say?
Well, regarding the ongoing development, you might have also heard about Debris by Farbrausch.
This was release by “.farbrausch” on April 2007, bringing you an animated city with lots of effects, and again, this 7:18 minutes of demo is just 180 kb!…that’s even smaller than an average jpg photo!
If you don’t have the minimum requirements to run this demo, you can check the demo video from Youtube as well.
The most interesting thing is, now you can also use this same procedural texture technology for FREE! . Werkkzeug3 TE is the first tool to bring this procedural texture from the coders to the designers. Download your free copy of .Werkkzeug3 TE today and give it a try!
